Why ditch the factory Glock rod

Your Glock shipped with a polymer guide rod and a captured spring. It runs — until it flexes, wears, or you just decide you're done with plastic riding under your barrel. A stainless rod is rigid, won't wear out like the OEM piece, and puts a little more weight up front where it can help the gun settle. Don't expect it to erase recoil — that's mostly your spring weight and how heavy the gun is — but you get a solid, consistent platform that keeps the spring running dead straight, shot after shot.

Match your generation — it matters

Glock reworked the recoil setup across Gen 1-3, Gen 4, Gen 5, and Gen 6, and full-size, compact, and subcompact frames don't share the same assembly length. That's why a Gen 5 rod won't drop into a Gen 6, and why the G26 and the G43 / 43X / 48 run their own shorter assemblies instead of a chopped-down full-size part.
